He married Vera Victoria Smith in Nowra, New South Wales, Australia, March 29, 1921. Vera was born in Jasper's Brush, New South Wales, Australia January 23, 1899. Vera was the daughter of John Barker Smith and Ann Mulley. Vera died January 10, 1983 in Merewether, New South Wales, Australia, at 83 years of age. Her body was interred January 12, 1983 in Beresfield, New South Wales, Australia.

Sydney John Kitchen and Vera Victoria Smith had the following children:

3 i. Jessie Norma³ Kitchen was born in Hurtsville, New South Wales, Australia January 15, 1922.

4 ii. Betty Vera Kitchen was born in Hurtsville, New South Wales, Australia February 5, 1924.
