4. Hugh³ Shorthose Rev (John², Bartholomew¹) was born in Amesbury, Wilts, England May 4, 1679. Hugh died February 4, 1735 in London, Middlesex, England, at 55 years of age.

He married Jane Hester Cox in Stanton, St Bernard, Wilts, England, August 30, 1696. Chaplain to the Duke of Chandos. Lecturer at Chelsea 1708. Trinity College matric., 15 March 1694-5 aged 18. subs as Shorthorse. Chaplain to Col., Gowers regiment of foot. ***Check this for Cosby See Rawlinson Bodleian Library. v. 428.

Hugh Shorthose Rev and Jane Hester Cox had the following child:

7 i. Ann⁴ Shorthose was born Abt 1719. She married Alexander Cosby Captain in St Annes, Soho, London, England, December 2, 1740. Alexander was born in England about 1720. Alexander died October 1759 in Surat Castle, Surat, India, at 39 years of age. His body was interred 1759 in Surat, India. (See Alexander Cosby Captain for the continuation of this line.) Ann must have died in Minorca since so far no record of her death has been found.
