He married Dorothy Gwennyth Howell in Turramurra, New South Wales, Australia, September 27, 1952. Dorothy was born in Ellington, Fiji April 10, 1929. Dorothy is the daughter of Arthur Albert Howell and Ruby Charlotte Baker.

He was christened in Bangalow, New South Wales, Australia.

Basil Virtue and Dorothy Gwennyth Howell had the following children:

5 i. Megam Frances³ Virtue was born in Katoomba, New South Wales, Australia April 3, 1954. She married Andrew Bruce Hoare in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, March 28, 1981. Andrew was born in Cremorne, New South Wales, Australia August 7, 1952. Andrew is the son of Bruce Francis Hoare and Judith Elsie Bruce-Smith. She was christened in Leura, New South Wales, Australia.

6 ii. Browyn Kerry Virtue was born in Katoomba, New South Wales, Australia July 20, 1955.

7 iii. Mark Ian Virtue was born in New South Wales, Australia April 30, 1957. Mark died August 16, 1980 in New South Wales, Australia, at 23 years of age.
