2. Patrick² Johnston (William¹) was born in Eccles, Berwick, Scotland 1663. Patrick died 1732 in Eccles, Berwick, Scotland, at 69 years of age. His body was interred 1732 in Eccles, Berwick, Scotland.

He married Janet Dickson in Eccles, Berwick, Scotland, August 29, 1713. Janet was born in Eccles, Berwick, Scotland 1694. Janet died 1737 in Eccles, Berwick, Scotland, at 43 years of age. Her body was interred 1737 in Eccles, Berwick, Scotland. William Johnston,the father was tenant farmer at Ednam Mains, part of the Duke of Roxburghe's estates near Kelso. Patrick Johnston moved to Little Swinton as a tenant farmer. About four miles north east of Kelso is the village of Eccles. In the churchyard is a flat-topped stone noting the death of William and his wife Betty. Other memebers of the family are also listed. See "A Branch of the Johnston Clan" by Margaret Garside.

4 ii. William Johnston was born in Eccles, Berwickshire, Scotland 1714. William died 1796 in Eccles, Berwickshire, Scotland, at 82 years of age. His body was interred 1796 in Eccles Church/yd, Eccles, Berwickshire, Scotland.

+ 5 iii. George Johnston was born May 8, 1715.

6 iv. Janet Johnston was born in Eccles, Berwickshire, Scotland August 30, 1719. Janet died about 1719/1720 in Eccles, Berwickshire, Scotland.

7 v. Janet Johnston was born in Eccles, Berwickshire, Scotland April 16, 1721.
